Caliburn Reaches Finals of Champion Beer of Britain 2025

Tintagel Brewery is celebrating a major achievement this summer as Caliburn, our flagship Old Ale, has been named a finalist in the Champion Beer of Britain 2025. After winning its category for Brown Ales, Red Ales, Old Ales and Strong Milds at the Great British Beer Festival Winter earlier this year, Caliburn will now compete for the overall title at the Great British Beer Festival in Birmingham this August.

This milestone follows a string of recent successes, including a Taste of the West Gold Award, plus Gold and Category Champion honours at the SIBA South West Independent Beer Awards 2025. These awards reflect both the quality and growing national reputation of our much-loved ale.

Named after the legendary sword of King Arthur, Caliburn is brewed with Cornish spring water and English hops, offering a smooth, full-bodied profile with roasted malt, caramel and dark fruit notes. It’s a long-standing favourite across Cornwall and a staple at our Tintagel Brewery Taproom.

“For a small independent brewery, this means the world,” said Simon Thresh of Tintagel Brewery. “To see Caliburn recognised at this level is a huge honour.”

Caliburn is available at our on-site shop and bar, through our online store, and in pubs across Cornwall — the perfect time to raise a glass to this legendary ale.
